TESTING THE ALGAE!

Five Independent Labs

The Company retains five independent laboratories that regularly test each batch of algae over and above all the in-house testing done to assure the safety and purity of all its product. Tests listed below:

1. WATER ANALYSIS - Harvest site

TEST FREQUENCY RESULT

Temperature - Once per hour 8 - 26º C

pH Once per hour 7-10

Dissolved Oxygen Once per hour 1.3 - 14.4 mg/L

Specific Conductivity Once per hour 85 - 116 micromhos/cm

Nitrate Monthly 0.10 - 2.20 mg/L

Total phosphorus Monthly 0.11 - 1.97 mg/L

2. ALGAE PURITY ANALYSIS - Processed Batches

TEST FREQUENCY RESULT

Bacteria:

E. Coli and coliform, 10-40 times per batch < 100 cfu/g (below detection levels)

Aerobic bacteria 10-40 times per batch < 10,000 cfu/g (must be < 100,000 cfu/g)

Yeast and Molds 10-40 times per batch < 100 cfu/g

Heavy Metals Assay:

Cadmium, Lead , Mercury. Monthly Below Detection Levels

Pesticide Assay {All pesticides} Monthly Below Detection Levels

Moisture Content 5 - 10 times per batch 5% (not to exceed 7%)

Extraneous Substances - nontoxic natural material Every Batch Levels below US and Canadian standards

3. TOXICITY ANALYSIS - Tested Every Batch

All Are Well below levels established as safe
A. Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay {ELISA} is used to detect microcystin, a specific type of hepatotoxin.
B. Protein Phosphatase 2A Inhibition Assay {PPIA} is used to detect microcystin and determine levels of hepatotoxin.
C. High Performance Liquid Chromatography {HPLC} used to detect trace amount of organic substance. {pigment analysis - levels of chlorophyll breakdown by-products: pheophorbides, pryopheophorbides}

D. Bioassay for saxitoxins and anatoxins Every Batch Non Detected
E. High Performance Liquid Chromatography {HPLC} for saxitoxins
To corroborate bioassay as needed Non Detected

Concentration of any impurities are always below regulated standards and often below levels of detection.

We know of few foods which undergo such extensive analysis.
As a result, we are assured that BGA is safe and healthful for humans.
